About Nest in Laak

Nest is an art institution in The Hague that presents a program centered around art, interaction, and collaboration. Nest makes contemporary (inter)national art accessible to a broad audience by creating exhibitions and contextual programs that focus on relevant and engaging societal trends. In 2024, Nest relocated to the Laakkwartier due to a sustainability renovation, and under the name ‘Nest in Laak,’ we are organizing exhibitions and programs in a large industrial warehouse next to Club Laak. Here, Nest in Laak presents an experimental and multidisciplinary program at the intersection of art and listening/night culture

Who are we looking for? zoeken we?

We prefer someone who enjoys working at the intersection of art, music, and social issues, is aware of what’s happening in society and the cultural field, and has an affinity with Nest’s mission. We are looking for a colleague capable of conceptualizing and realizing content-rich and exciting programs. Additionally, Nest collaborates with various partners, and we also create programs at other locations. For this, it’s essential that you are flexible and hands-on.

Your responsibilities

  • Setting up programs (a monthly talk show, film screenings, podcasts, tours, and listening sessions) in the fields of art and other cultural disciplines in collaboration with the artistic leadership and curators.
  • Establishing new collaborations with relevant program partners.
  • Coordinating, organizing, and executing activities.
  • Maintaining contacts with stakeholders and ensuring that execution stays within financial boundaries.
  • Writing texts about the programs.

The ideal candidate

  • Has at least three years of relevant experience as a programmer for cultural institutions/nightlife.
  • Can engage a young, broad audience and has a clear vision.
  • Has a relevant network in art and music.
  • Can collaborate well within an ambitious and diverse team and is communicative and socially skilled.
  • Can maintain oversight, is pragmatic and flexible.
  • Has a good command of both Dutch and English.

Employment conditions

ased on your experience and background, we offer a salary according to the Guideline Function and Salary Structure for Presentation Institutions for Visual Arts. We aim to offer a permanent contract for an indefinite period after satisfactory performance and are looking for someone who wants to commit to Nest long-term. Additionally, there is room for personal development through training or education.

We are an open organization with a small and close-knit team, working according to the principles of the Governance Code for Culture, the Fair Practice Code, and the Diversity & Inclusion Code.
